We are a food lovin’ family. We eat just about anything and everything. We aren’t afraid to try new things or go on food adventures.

I am the “chef” in the house, my husband is the master of the grill. I just love to cook! And Jared doesn’t mind trying my creations. Whenever we travel, we are on the lookout for new or interesting places with the amazing food. We are HUGE fans of Top Chef and Diners Drive Inns and Dives. Therefore, we often plan our trips around places cheftestants work or own restaurants.

I must warn you when finding recipes on this blog…..we are vegetable lovers! I am trying all sorts of new vegetable recipes and praying they are edible. Currently my husband and I have two vegetarian meals a week. Sometimes more, but never less. We strive for whole foods, organic foods and minimally processed foods. We aren’t perfect and it is something that I’m working on.

On March 6, 2013, something changed in our family that will forever change my food planning and prep. We discovered (via an allergist) that Brooklyn is allergic to milk. Yes, my heart sank. Bye bye beautiful cookies and cakes, bye bye delicious ice cream and bye bye blue cheese dressing (my favorite!) Since little Bear is still nursing exclusively- I- as her only food source will need to eliminate all milk, whey, butter and more from my diet. Although this is something that I am choosing to do (I could just switch her to formula) it is going to be a HUGE challenge for me. I enjoy butter. I enjoy cake. And I enjoy cheese. But I am willing to do this for my daughter and when she begins to eat foods on her own, I will be able to teach her what foods are safe and what foods are not.

Two years ago, I switched from regular cow’s milk to coconut milk. I just ADORE coconut milk and so when you are viewing my recipes you will see either coconut milk or soymilk. Please feel free to use your milk of choice.

Being a person who has never had a food allergy their my life, I am ready to take on this challenge and explore the world of Dairy Free. Just add this to my list of things “I’m Working On”.
